Vote For Lupe Gomez

My Bio

For more than 20 years, I have served my community because I believe public service starts with listening and showing up.

My decision to run for City Council came after years of residents trusting me with their concerns and asking me to speak up when they felt unheard. As a nonprofit leader, community advocate, and former Planning Commissioner, I have seen firsthand how decisions made at City Hall can affect a family, a neighborhood, and an entire community for generations.

My breaking point was realizing that speaking up was no longer enough. I wanted to be at the table where the final decisions are made.

Today, when residents come to me asking for help navigating City Hall, fighting for their neighborhoods, or simply asking to be heard, I am reminded exactly why I am running.

I have found my voice, and it is not my own—it is the voice of the people I serve. I am running to bring that voice to City Hall and make sure our residents have a seat at the table.

My Key Issues

Responsible Growth & Development

Policy Focus: Perris deserves development that improves our quality of life, strengthens our local economy, and protects our neighborhoods. I support moving away from an over-reliance on warehouse and industrial development and toward a more balanced economy that attracts retail, restaurants, healthcare, recreation, professional services, and diverse employment opportunities.

New development should be evaluated for its long-term impacts on traffic, infrastructure, air quality, public services, and surrounding neighborhoods. I support appropriate buffers between industrial uses and homes, stronger truck-route enforcement, and meaningful community input before major land-use decisions are made.

Growth is necessary, but it should be responsible, balanced, and driven by what will serve Perris residents for generations to come.

Fiscal Responsibility & Government Accountability

Policy Focus: Every tax dollar belongs to the residents, and City Hall has a responsibility to manage those dollars carefully and transparently. I support responsible budgeting, maintaining healthy reserves, prioritizing essential services and infrastructure, and ensuring residents can clearly understand how their money is being spent.

Accountability also means asking difficult questions before—not after—financial decisions are made. I will advocate for greater transparency in city spending, contracts, and major investments, while making sure long-term financial impacts are considered before committing taxpayer dollars.

Perris residents work hard for their money. They deserve a city government that treats public funds with the same care and responsibility they expect in their own households and businesses.

Transparent & Accessible City Government

Policy Focus: Residents should never feel ignored, intimidated, or confused when seeking help from their city. I believe local government should be accessible, responsive, and accountable to every resident, regardless of age, language, or background.

I support improving communication between City Hall and residents, making city processes easier to understand, expanding meaningful opportunities for public participation, and ensuring residents receive clear and timely responses when they ask for assistance.

Public service begins with listening. As a councilmember, I will work to make sure residents know where to go for help, understand the decisions affecting them, and have a meaningful opportunity to be heard before those decisions are made. City Hall should work with the community, not around it.
